The Road to 358

On Saturday January 21st, 2023, I saw my 125th Division One College Basketball teams. On this occasion, I saw the Miami Hurricanes take on the Duke Blue Devils. Miami is the 8th team that I have seen out of the ACC. Miami has a 15-3 record on the year. They most recently played Syracuse and they won 82-78. The leading scorer for Miami is Isaiah Wong and he is averaging 16.7 PPG. Duke has a 13-5 record on the year. They most recently played Clemson and they lost 72-64. The leading scorer for the Blue Devils is Kyle Filipowski and he is averaging 14.9 PPG.  As always, Duke is a great atmosphere for a basketball game. Despite struggling much of the season, the Duke crowd is always great. I am not huge on this Duke team this year as they struggle on the road. On Saturday, December 17th, 2022, I saw my 124th Division One College Basketball teams. On this occasion, I saw the Vanderbilt Commodores take on the NC State Wolfpack. Vanderbilt is the 5th team that I have seen out of the SEC. Vanderbilt has a 5-5 record on the year. They most recently played Grambling State and they lost in shocker 64-62. The leading scorer for Vanderbilt is Liam Robbins and he is averaging 12.3 PPG. NC State has a 9-3 record on the year. They most recently played Furman and they won 92-73. A lot of experts said this was a very good win for NC State following opening the ACC Conference season with back to back losses. The leading scorer for the Wolfpack is Terquavion Smith and he is averaging 18.3 PPG. I saw NC State just a month ago take on Elon. During the Elon game, the Wolfpack weren't all that impressive. On Saturday, December 17th, 2022, I saw my 123rd Division One College Basketball teams. On this occasion, I saw the Wyoming Cowboys take on the Dayton Flyers. Wyoming is the 2nd team that I have seen out of the Mountain West. Wyoming has a 5-5 record on the year. They most recently played Louisiana Tech and they won 92-65. The leading scorer for the Cowboys is Hunter Maldonado and he is averaging 13.6 PPG. Dayton has a 6-5 record on the year. The 6-5 record is certainly a disappointing start to the season for the Flyers. Dayton was ranked as high as #21 earlier in the year but injuries have hurt the Flyers early in the year. The Flyers most recently played UNC Asheville and they won 79-56. The leading scorer for the Flyers is potential NBA prospect Daron Holmes II. The 6'10" center is average 16.6 PPG this season. I have seen Dayton twice before. These were at the 2015 NCAA Tournament in Columbus, OH. To this day I have no idea why Dayton was playing as an 11 seed in Ohio. Poo...

On Saturday, December 17th, 2022, I saw my 121st and 122nd Division One College Basketball teams. On this occasion, I saw the Tulane Green Wave take on the George Mason Patriots. Tulane is the 3rd team that I have seen out of the American. George Mason is 7th team I have seen out of the Atlantic 10. Tulane has a 6-3 record on the year. They most recently played Buffalo and they won in convincing fashion 88-63. The leading scorer for Green Wave is Jalen Cook who is averaging 20.8 PPG in only four games played. George Mason has a 6-4 record on the year. They most recently played Maryland Eastern Shores and they won 67-54. The leading scorer for the Patriots is Josh Oduro and he is averaging 13.7 PPG. Oddly enough around this time last year I was scheduled to see Wisconsin play George Mason. Unfortunately that game was cancelled due to COVID.  This was another great back and forth game. On Saturday, December 17th, 2022, I saw my 119th and 120th Division One College Basketball teams. On this occasion, I saw the Towson Tigers take on the Northern Iowa Panthers.  Towson is the 2nd team that I have seen out of the CAA. Towson has a 8-3 record on the year. They most recently played Navy and they lost by a score of 71-69 in OT. The leading scorer for the Tigers is Nicolas Timberlake he is averaging 16 PPG. Northern Iowa is the 4th team out of the Missouri Valley that I have seen. Northern Iowa has a 3-7 record on the year. They most recently played South Florida and they lost 72-69. The leading scorer for the Panthers is Bowen Born and he is averaging 19 PPG. Born's 19 PPG is good for 45th in the country. Writing this one a little late. Back and forth game. Towson lead at half 33-31. The second half however was all Northern Iowa. Bowen Born had 16 second half points to give him 27 total for the game.
